About Teresa

I used to be like so many people I know – uncomfortable in front of the camera. I remember well the feeling of vulnerability that came from having my photo taken. I never liked how I looked so I would joke about
being more comfortable behind the camera.

But then tragedy struck my life and I learned the hard way what happens when you shy away from the camera. (You can read my story below)

Because of this my passion is to help women have the courage and confidence to exist in photos. I’ve learned the secret to being comfortable in front of the camera and I can’t wait to share it with you.

I love to laugh and have fun. I strive to bring this into my
sessions so you can relax and enjoy your photo shoot.

My job is to make the process as easy as possible and I’m
here to walk with you every step of the way. We are going to have so much fun!

Education

I am a self-taught photographer. While I have taken a few formal classes, I've found I enjoy the learning process. As a result I see myself as a life long learner and am always looking for the next new technique I can learn. I have also taught classes and workshops.

Awards

I have won peer and juried awards. Some of my favorites include:

~ People's Choice Award at the Oregon State Fair

~ Kodak Photo of the Day (these were displayed in Times Square, how cool is that!)

~ Image merits with the Oregon Professional Photographers Association

My Story

While I've been taking photos my entire life, I didn't fall in love with photography until my senior year of high school. That's when my dream of being a professional photographer was born, however, I wasn't courageous enough to go after my dream until my children started school.

As the mom of 2 boys, I was busy during their toddler years. Once they started school I found myself with more time on my hands. I realized if I didn't try and follow my dream I would look back on my life and say "what if".

Just as my business started gaining traction, tragedy struck. On January 22, 2011, my boys' lives were cut short by a tragic car accident. My world ground to a halt. Everything I knew about myself and my life changed that day.

I understand the value of your family's memories. I discovered something after the accident that I don't want to happen to you . . . I don't exist in my family's memories.

My boys' lives are well documented. I have hundreds, if not thousands, of images capturing the memory of their lives. But I'm not in them.

I was always the one taking the pictures. The few times the camera was turned on me, I'd shy away, too embarrassed of myself to be seen on film. I only have a handful of images of me with my sons. To this day I've only found 1 snapshot of me with both of my boys.

I don't have a visual record of myself as a mom or my relationship with my children. I don't want this to happen to you. Someday your children will go looking for photos of you . . . what will they find?

I want to help you find the confidence to step in front of the camera without reservation. I want to see you exist in photos so your legacy can be passed down for generations.
